25% up to $100 bonus at Pacific Poker

bodog.jpgIn a recent shakeup of their pro poker player collection, Bodog announced that they have signed a deal with online poker player Justin Bonomo, who has earned a lofty reputation playing online under the screenname “ZeeJustin”.Bonomo’s success is not limited to online play, as he recently finished in fifth place in the WSOPC Caesars Las Vegas Main Event, where he was eliminated by the eventual champion, Allen Cunningham. To date, Justin has earned more than $1 million in live tournament winnings, so he definitely can take his skills from online poker and apply them to the felt tables.

In their other move Bodog announced that they would not renew their deal with noted poker pro Josh Arieh. Arieh’s deal had expired at the end of April and Josh Arieh agreed with Bodog that the two should part company. Josh Arieh holds two World Series of Poker bracelets and finished in third place at the Main Event in 2004.

The parting between Bodog and Arieh was very cordial, as both Bodog and Arieh have nothing but the highest respect for each other. A spokesman for the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, which runs Bodog’s North American operations, gave a statement that said, “Bodog and Josh have mutually decided to part ways at the end of April. Josh had a great run as a member of Team Bodog over the past four years that included finishing third at the 2004 WSOP Main Event, winning his second WSOP bracelet in 2005 and a number of final table appearances in high-profile tournaments. We sincerely enjoyed our association with Josh and appreciate all that he brought to Team Bodog. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors, both at and away from the poker table.”

Josh has said that he is very appreciative of the time he spent working with Bodog, but that it was time to separate. Josh hasn’t been as active on the tournament circuit recently, and seems devoted to spending more time with his wife and children. Josh still plays a lot of poker, but doesn’t travel around for poker as much as he used to.

Josh Arieh isn’t quite sure what he will do now, besides playing poker, but appears to have a few ideas kicking around in his head. Josh is working on his own website, www.josharieh.com, which he expects to have running prior to the start of the World Series of Poker. The website will feature a blog where Josh will write about anything interesting that is happening.

Bodog has never had a large poker team, and their pro poker team is currently a four-man squad. The members of Team Bodog are David Williams, Evelyn Ng, Jean Robert-Bellande and the recently acquired Justin Bonomo.
