pokerstars.jpgNatalie Teltscher played at PokerStars under the screenname “TheV0id” but was disqualified after the end of the 2007 World Championship of Online Poker, which TheV0id had won. The disqualification occurred after evidence accrued that Teltscher had not been the person playing her account, which breached the PokerStars Terms of Use Agreement which forbids an account having more than one player. The disqualification moved everyone in the tournament up one slot, including final table finishers Josh Arieh and Vanessa Rousso. The new winner and proud recipient of the $1.2 million prize was ka$ino.

Natalie Teltscher is the sister of poker professional Mark Teltscher. Earlier this year she filed a claim against PokerStars claiming that she was unjustly disqualified and that she had not violated the Terms of Use Agreement in any way. With this claim Teltscher intended to reclaim the $1.2 million she adamantly insisted she won fair and square. Poker Stars had launched a full investigation into the matter following the end of the WCOOP and come up with incontrovertible proof that Teltscher had not been playing upon her account in the WCOOP Main Event. Seeing that she would not be able to counter Poker Stars’s evidence, Teltscher withdrew her claim, admitting that she had let another person play her account.

After Teltscher withdrew her claim PokerStars issued the following statement:

“PokerStars is pleased to announce that Natalie Teltscher has recently withdrawn her claim in the Isle of Man Courts against PokerStars. Furthermore, in discontinuing her claim, she has agreed to contribute a sum towards the legal costs incurred by PokerStars in this matter.

Ms Teltscher brought her claim against PokerStars because she was disqualified from first place of the 2007 WCOOP Main Event after PokerStars internal investigations demonstrated beyond doubt that she had not played on the account. On her disqualification all other players were moved one place higher in the prize table and the money confiscated from her account, TheV0id, was redistributed in full, according to the amended tournament placings.
