25% up to $100 bonus at Pacific Poker

selbst.jpgEarlier this year the World Poker Tour introudiced its World Poker Tour Ladies circuit. The WPTL is about giving ladies an opportunity to showcase their skills and encourage more ladies to compete in poker tournaments, thereby raising the visibility of ladies in the poker world.

The second event, which took place at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, has come to its conclusion, with Vanessa Selbst winning the title after defeating Erica Shoenberg in heads-up play. Vanessa Selbst started drawing recognition after her recent performances at the World Series of Poker. Over the past couple of years, Vanessa Selbst made it to three WSOP final tables, which also included an eighth place finish in the Ladies’ Event. Despite her previous success, this was Vanessa’ s first victory in a major tournament, and she will be ven more recognized the next time she competes in the WSOP and other major tournaments.

The event had a buy-in of $1,000, making it one of the most expensive buy-ins for the WPTL. Most buy-ins are considerably smaller in an effort to draw more ladies into poker tournaments who would not otherwise cough up the money to play. The second event boasted a field of 82 players, 81 ladies with 1 man competing as well, and the top three finishes won over $10,000. Crystal Osgood, who is famous as the founder of the Ladies Poker Association, came in third place to win $10,920. Erica Schoenberg, who is a Full Tilt Poker pro, won $14,690 for her runner-up performance. The champion, Vanessa Selbst, walked away with $26,500.

More events are upcoming in the WPTL, adn they will most certainly be fun to watch. The next event will take place in March at the Bay 101 Shooting Star Casino in San Jose, California.
